David brings a unique blend of utility operations experience and GIS education experience to creating and collecting GIS information. Since 1998 David has been employed in the fields of drinking water treatment and distribution and wastewater collection. He has experience in operating, maintaining and managing drinking water and wastewater systems. He created and maintains the GIS for Leavenworth County Rural Water District #7, located in southern Leavenworth County, Kansas. He collected the GPS locations of the district's fire hydrants, valves and meters using sub-foot equipment. This information was then entered into a the district's ArcGIS software along with the base data and aerial photography used to create the district's base map. The district's water lines were then digitized using the points collected and current district maps. David also studied the impact of development on one of the district's groundwater supply wells using GIS based methods in his thesis titled "Quantitative assesment of the impact of residential rural development on groundwater recharge and pollution potential."
